Maybelline Color Elixir Swatches + Review in #065 Caramel Infused & #085 Hibiscus Haven

I recently purchased two of the new Maybelline Color Elixir lip glosses. They are supposed to have the pigmentation of a lipstick, the comfort of a lip balm and the glossiness of a lip gloss.I purchased the shades #065 Caramel Infused (a darker neutral rosy beige) and #085 Hibiscus Haven (a bright magenta-y pink). I was very skeptical about these when they first came out. I'm always very skeptical of drugstore lip glosses since i hardly have any luck with them.My favorite lip glosses of all time are the Buxom lip glosses, but they are somewhat pricey. Prior to my Maybelline purchase, I had received a sample of a Buxom Lip Cream that I loved in the shade Mudslide. I had fully intended on purchasing the full size version of it which would be around $18. One day when i was at the store I noticed the Maybelline display with the Color Elixir lip glosses on it and saw the shade Caramel Infused. It looked IDENTICAL to the Buxom Lip Cream in Mudslide; So, I bought it and the shade Hibiscus Haven.

  • MY THOUGHTS

I have to say these lip glosses are pretty amazing! They do exactly what they claim to do. They are very pigmented, creamy, moisturizing and long lasting. They are also not sticky at all. They are very inexpensive at about $6-$8 compared to the $18 I was willing to dish out for the Buxom Lip Cream. For me, Caramel Infused is the prefect nude shade. It doesn't wash me out like all the other nude shades I've tried. Hibiscus Haven is the perfect girly springtime pink. Its very bright, but not intimidating because you can put on a sheer layer or build it up to be more opaque. They really are perfect.

  • DUPE ALERT!

Caramel Infused is a perfect dupe for the Buxom Mudslide lip cream.

  •  Hibiscus Haven is on top, Caramel Infused is on bottom
